Today Katelin and I went to the Sandwich Women’s Harvest Marketplace in Sandwich, MA, one of their beneficiaries was WECAN (Women’s empowerment on the Cape and Islands). WECAN has been a part of our lives for several years and they are helping with fundraising for Katelin’s trip to Texas.
if you are a woman in transition, this is the place for you! Their programs range from one on one with attorneys in several areas of law to their signature Pathmaker’s Program, a 10 month mentoring program.
While there Katelin and I got treated to a tasty lunch, she was supposed to have the pizza , but she decided my clam chowder was really where it was at, at least I got half a brownie.
I entered the silent auction for a gift card to Titcombs Bookstore, I wanted to get a copy of “Cape Cod Memory Makers explore the Town of Sandwich” by my friend and fellow author, Joan Walsh, but got outbid, which is why Katie got such a big lunch.
There was a lot to do, like enter a raffle for $100 cash prize, fingers crossed! And I knocked a few people off my Christmas while supporting a great cause. But our favorite thing was the children’s activities tables, where card making, tattoos, bracelets, and a game were available, with funds going to help pay for food and toys for needy families this holiday season.
These children were a delight! They gave Katelin and I tattoos, and took our picture. A group of them got together and said “you are SO loud” (one of Katelin’s favorite things) so she would smile. 🙂 They were very interested in Katie and asked lots of questions and thought it was cool how she said “hi” with her iPad. Then, one of the girls asked if she could make a bracelet for us, and so Fox ended up with a beautiful necklace that he’ll wear with the other beautiful one given to us by the cheerleaders at the Blue Sky Event in Boston. With so much positive thoughts and good cheer, Fox is certain to have a good time in Texas and so will Katie and I.
it was a fun filled day!
